Brain Science builds CharacterOur curriculum is based on the largest, most in-depth research ever to be conducted in the field of human character. The field of "positive psychology" is the fundamental basis of what makes us do what we do, think what we think, and feel what we feel. In recent years, it has become the cornerstone of social and emotional learning, in schools, and it plays an integral role in the development of grit and growth mindsets among children and adults alike.
The positive psychology research from the University of Pennsylvania provides the backbone of our character education work. The extensive neuroscience work being conducted at the University of Washington, supports the understanding and development of adolescent brains in our classrooms. By combining all this understanding of the human brain, our behaviors, and our emotions, we have been able to design a K-12 instructional program that is a game changer for students and a breeze to facilitate for teachers. Add Strengths to Your SchoolStrengths4School is looking to connect and partner with dedicated and passionate teachers who are looking to implement an intentional and fully integrated character education program into their school.

The Science behind Strengths 4 Schools
"Positive Psychology is the scientific study of the strengths and virtues that enable individuals and communities to thrive. The field is founded on the belief that people want to lead meaningful and fulfilling lives, to cultivate what is best within themselves, and to enhance their experiences of love, work, and play." - Positive Psychology Center at the University of Pennsylvania

Angela Duckworth Talks about "GRIT"
"What if doing well in school & in life depends on much more than your ability to learn quickly?"
"One characteristic emerged as a significant predictor of success... GRIT!"
"Grit is passion & perseverance for very long term goals. Grit is having stamina. Grit is sticking with your future"
"Grit is living life like its a marathon not a sprint"
"The most shocking thing about GRIT is how little we know about building it"
"How do we build grit in our children?
Strengths4School is committed to developing GRIT (among many other strengths) within our schools, and within our children....

Carol Dweck talks about growth mindset and the power of "yet"
"If you get a failing grade you think 'I'm nothing, I'm nowhere'."
"If you get the grade "Not yet!" you understand that you are on a learning curve. It gives you a path into the future."
"Every time they [students] push out of their comfort zone, to learn something new and difficult, the neurons in their brain form new stronger connections, and over time they can get smarter."
Strengths4School is driven to promoting "Growth Mindsets" among students, parents, and teachers. However, a growth mindset cannot just be switched on like a bulb, it has to be cultivated and nurtured. This is done by nurturing our character strengths, so that we become emotionally and psychologically stronger.
The good news?
We can all develop a growth mindset...
